Put into the "My PSP" Patterns folder
BCRibbon mask
Put into the "My PSP" Masks folder

*Do not deselect until instructed to do so
*Settings will remain the same as last used unless otherwise noted
PREPARATION

1. Launch Paint Shop Pro and open the graphic

2. Shift+D to duplicate it

3. Close the original

4. Image>Resize Settings:
No greater than 350 pixels on largest side
Resample using: checked
Smart Size is selected
Maintain original print size is not checked
Lock aspect ratio: checked
Resize all layers is checked

5. Adjust>Sharpness>Sharpen if necessary

6. Shift+D to duplicate it

7. Minimize one of the copies

Picking gradient colors
The first two colors will also be combined to use in the background of the letter
Add them to the swatch palette as you choose them for easy reference







8. Activate the Dropper Tool (E)

9. Right click a lighter color in the graphic to set the Background and Fill color in the
Materials Palette

10. Left click a darker shade of the color to set the Foreground and Stroke color in the
Materials Palette

11. Choose a 3rd color - It needs to be darker than the other two
It will be used to make small borders in the framed header for the letter as well as
cutouts and drop shadows
I will refer to as the "off" color
Add it to swatches as well

12. Set the Foreground and Background color boxes back to the original two color choices

13. Set the Background and Fill Properties to Gradient Settings:









14. Set the Foreground and Stroke Properties to Pattern Settings:
BeckysGold
Angle: 0
Scale: 100

The Materials Palette should look like this





HEADER

Back to the maximized copy

1. Selections>Select All

2. Effects>3D Effects>Cutout Settings:
Vertical: 0
Horizontal: 0
Opacity: 100
Blur: 15
Color: "off" color
Fill interior with color is not checked

3. Selections>Select None

4. Image>Add Borders Settings:
1 Pixel
Symmetric is checked
Color is the "off" color
Right click the color box to change this

5. Image>Add Borders Settings:
2 Pixels
Color is white

6. Activate the Magic Wand Tool Settings:
Mode: Add (Shift)
Match mode: RGB Value
Tolerance: 20
Use all layers is not checked
Contiguous is checked
Feather: 0
Anti-alias is checked
Inside is selected

7. Select the border

8. Activate the Flood Fill Tool (F) Settings:
Match mode: None
Use all layers is not checked
Blend mode: Normal
Opacity: 100

9. Left click the selection to flood fill it with the foreground pattern

10. Selections>Select None

107. Add your credit(S)

108. Layers>Merge>Merge All (Flatten)

109. Save as a JPEG and as the letter header

110. Close it out of PSP

BACKGROUND BORDER Part 1

Back to the pasted strip

1. Image>Canvas Size Settings:
Width: Twice the Original Dimension shown
Height: 350 pixels
Lock aspect ratio: not checked
Left center placement arrow is clicked

2. Layers>Duplicate

3. Image>Mirror

4. Layers>Merge>Merge Visible

5. Activate the Raster Deform Tool (D) Settings:
Default

6. Push in on the left middle node until you get to the 1 pixel border as shown in the example












7. Repeat this for the right side













8. Activate the Selection Tool and click the Create selection from: Layer opaque button



9. Image>Crop to Selection

10. Effects>Plugins>Simple - Top Left Mirror

11. Image>Canvas Size Settings:
Width: 2,400 or your preference
Height: 350 pixels

12. Minimize it

BACKGROUND PATTERN

1. File>New Settings:
Width: 350 pixels
Height: 350 pixels
Raster Background is clicked
Color depth: 16 million colors
Transparent is checked

2. Activate the Flood Fill Tool (F)

3. Right click the canvas to flood fill it with the background gradient

4. Selections>Select All

5. Selections>Modify>Contract by 10

6. Left click the selection to flood fill it with the foreground pattern

7. Selections>Modify>Contract by 2

8. Right click the canvas to flood fill it with the background gradient

9. Effects>Texture Effects>Texture

Keep selected

10. Maximize the unaltered copy of the graphic from Preparation step 7

11. Edit>Copy

12. Close it out without saving changes

Back to the Background Pattern
It should still have an active selection

13. Layers>New Raster Layer

14. Edit>Paste>Paste Into Selection

15 Selections>Select None

16. Lower the opacity on this layer so it will be text friendly

17. Layers>Merge>Merge All (Flatten)

18. Effects>Plugins>Simple>Quick Tile

19. Set this as the Foreground and Stroke Properties Pattern in the Materials Palette Settings:
Angle: 0
scale: 100

20. Minimize it

BACKGROUND BORDER Part 2

1. Maximize the image from the Background Border Part 1 section

2. Layers>New Raster Layer

3. Layers>Arrange>Send to Bottom

4. Left click the canvas to flood fill it with the foreground pattern

5. Layers>New Raster Layer

6. Layers>Arrange>Bring to Top

7. Add your credit(s)

8. Layers>Merge>Merge All (Flatten)

9. File>Save As a JPEG and as the letter background

10. Add both pieces to Letter Creator
