PREPARATION

1. Launch Paint Shop Pro open your graphic

2. Shift+D x 2 to duplicate it twice

3. Close the original

4. Minimize one of the copies

Choosing gradient colors

5. Activate the Dropper Tool (E)

6. Left click a medium color in the graphic to set the Foreground and Stroke
Color in the Materials Palette

7. Right click a darker shade to set the Background and Fill Color

8. Set the Background and Fill Properties to gradient Settings:
Foreground-background
Angle: 45
Repeats: 0
Invert is not checked
Style is linear

9. Set the Foreground and Stroke Properties to gradient Settings:
Foreground-background
Angle 0
Repeats 21
Invert is checked
Style is Radial
Horizontal 50
Vertical 50









10. Image>Resize Settings:
No greater than 300 pixels on the largest side
Resample using: checked
Smart Size is selected
Lock aspect ratio: checked
Resize all layers is checked

11. Adjust>Sharpness>Sharpen if necessary

FRAME

1. Layers>New Raster Layer

2. Activate the Flood Fill Tool (F)

3. Right click the canvas to flood fill it with the background gradient

Sample merged is not checked

Inside is selected

11. Select the border

12. Activate the Flood Fill Tool (F)

13. Left click the selection to flood fill it with the foreground gradient

PUTTING THEM TOGETHER

Working with the framed graphic

1. Edit>Paste>Paste As A New Layer

Height: Original Dimension shown + 40 pixels
Lock aspect ratio: not checked
Left middle placement arrow is clicked
Put a 5 in the Left: box

Working with the bottom frame layer

3. Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow Settings:

Opacity 70
Blur 5
Color is the background color (dark)
Shadow on new layer is not checked

4. Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow Settings:

Working with the top layer

5. Activate the Raster Deform Tool (D) Settings:
Default

6. Pull up on the top node until it clears the top edge of the strip

7. Repeat for the bottom

8. Select any other tool to deactivate the raster deform tool

9. Layers>Arrange>Send to Bottom

10. Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow Settings:
Vertical: 1
Horizontal: 1
Opacity: 70
Blur: 5
Color: background color (dark)
Shadow on new layer is checked

11. Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow Settings:
Vertical -1 (negative)
Horizontal -1 (negative)
Shadow on New Layer is not checked

12. Close off the top and middle layers so you can clearly see the shadow

13. If the shadow layer is not activated do so now

14. Select the middle of it













15. Edit>Clear

16. Selections>Select None

17. Open up the middle layer

18. Layers>Merge>Merge Visible

19. Effects>Image>Effects>Seamless Tiling Settings:

33. Maximize the other copy of the image

Height: height of the background strip
Resample using: checked
Smart Size is selected

Resize all layers is checked

35. Layers>Promote Background Layer

36. Layers>Load/Save Mask>Load Mask From Disk Settings:
Invert is not checked

37. Layers>Merge>Merge Group

38. Set this as the pattern in the Foreground and Fill Properties box of the
Materials Palette Settings:
Angle: 0
Scale: 100

Working with the Background Border (blank layer)

39. Left click the canvas to flood fill it with the foreground pattern

40. Lower the opacity on the layer so text can be clearly seen on it

41. Layers>Merge>Merge All (Flatten

42. File>Save As A JPEG and as the letter background
