-Do not deselect until instructed
-This tutorial was created in PSP 9
PREPARATION

1. Launch Paint Shop Pro and open the graphic

2. Shift+D to duplicate it

3. Close the original graphic

Follow step 4-6 if the graphic is not square
If it is already square skip to step 7

4. Activate the Selection Tool (S) Settings:
Setting type: Square
Mode: Add (Shift)
Feather: 0
Anti-alias is checked

5. Select around a piece of the graphic and keep in mind that it will be resized to 300 pixels

6. Image>Crop to Selection

7. Image>Resize Settings:
Width: 300 pixels
Height: 300 pixels
Resample using: Smart Size
Maintain original print size is not checked
Lock aspect ratio: is checked
Resize all layers is checked

8. Activate the Dropper Tool (E)

Adding colors to the Materials Palette
These colors will be mixed in some areas so choose accordingly
See the example below for reference for steps 9 and 10







9. Left click a darker color in the graphic to set the Foreground and Stroke Color in
the Materials Palette
*Set the Foreground and Stroke Properties to Color

10. Right click a medium-medium light shade of the same color
or
a medium-medium light complimentary color to set the Background and  Fill Color
in the Materials Palette
*Set the Background and Fill Properties to Color

HEADER

1. Image>Add Borders Settings:
10 pixels
Symmetric is checked
Color is the foreground color (dark)
Right click the color box to change it

2. Layers>New Raster Layer

3. Activate the Flood Fill Tool (F) Settings:
Match mode: None
Sample merged is not checked
Blend mode: Normal
Opacity: 100

4. Left click the canvas to flood fill it with the foreground color

5. Effects>Plugins>Greg's Factory Output Vol. II - Pool Shadow Settings:

On the next screen increase the number in the L box by 50
Ex: if the box is originally says 142 change it to 102
Click OK

SIDE BAR/BACKGROUND

1. Activate the Selection Tool (S) Settings:
Selection type: Rectangle
Mode: Add (Shift)
Feather: 0
Anti-alias is checked

2. Starting at the upper left edge of the frame pull out and down as shown in the example
Do not select the drop shadow on the inner frame











3. Edit>Copy

4. Edit>Paste>Paste As New Image

Working with the Header

5. Selections>Select None

6. Layers>New Raster Layer

7. Add your credit(s)

8. Layers>Merge>Merge all (Flatten)

9. File>Save As a JPEG and as your Letter Header

10. Close it out

Working with the strip you pasted

11. Layers>Merge>Merge All (Flatten)
This step is vital to achieve a proper tile

12. Image>Canvas Size Settings:
Width: Original Dimension shown
Height: 350 pixels
Lock aspect ratio is not checked
Placement Center Arrow is clicked
All other settings at default

13. Effects>Image Effects>Seamless Tiling at default




Then click these settings
Tiling method Corner
Direction Vertical
Vertical offset (%): 0
Transition (%): 50

14. Image>Mirror

15. Layers>Promote Background Layer

16. Image>Canvas Size Settings:
Width: 2,400 pixels or your preference
Height: Original Dimension shown
Lock aspect ratio is not checked
Placement left center arrow is clicked
Put a 10 in the box marked Left:
All other settings at default

17. Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow Settings:
Vertical: 1
Horizontal: -1

18. Layers>New Raster Layer

19. Layers>Arrange>Send to Bottom

20. Activate the Flood Fill Tool

21. Right click the canvas to flood fill it with the background color

22. Effects>Plugins>Greg's Factory Output Vol. II - Pool Shadow Settings:
Intensity: 26-57

23. Layers>New Raster Layer

24. Left click the canvas to flood fill it with the foreground color (dark)

25. Layers>Load/Save Mask>Load Mask From Disk Settings:
Beci_B_Mask_127
Source luminance is clicked
Fit to layer is clicked
Invert transparency is checked
Show all mask is clicked

26. Layers>Merge>Merge Group

27. Lower the opacity of this layer to 60-80
Don't panic as the next few steps step will fade out a lot of the detail in the mask
Be careful how far you lower the opacity as you end up with to little texture on the background

28. Layers>Merge>Merge Down

29. Effects>Image Effects>Seamless Tiling

30. Effects>Plugins>Xero - Artworx

31. Effects>Image Effects>Seamless Tiling

32. Layers>Merge>Merge All (Flatten)

33. Save as a JPEG and as your Letter Background

34. Assemble both pieces in Letter Creator
