PREPARATION

1. Launch Paint Shop Pro and open the tube

2. Activate the Dropper Tool (E)

Making A Gradient

3. Click a lighter color in the tube
Save it to the Swatch Palette and name it "
color1











4. Click a darker shade of the color
Save it to the Swatch Palette and name it "
color2"

5. Choose a contrasting color from the tube
Save it to the Swatch Palette and name it "
color3"

6. Left click "
color2"  in the Swatch Palette

7. Right click "
color1" B in the Swatch Palette

8. Set the Background and Fill Properties to Gradient Settings:








9. Minimize the tube

HEADER

1. File>New Settings:
Width: 400 pixels
Height: 400 pixels
Raster is clicked
Transparent is checked

2. Selections>Load/Save Selection>Load Selection From Disk Settings:
bgTrianglebig
Source luminance is clicked
Replace selection is clicked

3. Activate the Flood Fill Tool (F) Settings:
Match mode: None
Use all layers is not checked
Blend mode: Normal
Opacity: 100

4. Right click the selection to flood fill it with the background gradient

5. Left click "
color3" in the Swatch Palette

6. Selections>Modify>Contract by 4 pixels

7. Layers>New Raster Layer

8. Left click the selection to flood fill it with the foreground color

9. Selections>Modify>Contract by 8 pixels

10. Left click "
color2" in the Swatch Palette

12. Right click the selection to flood fill it with the background gradient

80. Edit>Copy

81. Close the tube out of PSP without saving changes

82. Edit>Paste>Paste As New Layer

83. Activate the Move Tool

84. Move the tube where you want it

85. Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow Settings:
Horizontal: 2
Opacity: 75

86. Layers>Merge>Merge Visible

87. Activate the Selection Tool Settings:
Click the Create selection from Layer opaque button




88. Image>Crop To Selection

89. Layers>New Raster Layer

90. Add your credit(s)

91. Layers>Merge>Merge Visible

92. Save as a .png file and as the letter header

93. Close it out of PSP

15. Add both pieces to Letter Creator

Using other shapes

a. Start with a 400 x 400 pixel transparent image for the large selection
b. Set the selection tool to the shape you want to use
c. Draw the shape out leaving a bit of space around the edges for drop shadow purposes
d. For the little selection use a 200 x 200 transparent image....and draw out the shape
(except pretty small) and center it in the middle
e. Follow the tutorial accordingly
